This isn't a suggestion for the chat, but one for the forums. I wasn't sure where else to place this. But constructive criticism is always welcomed, right? And if not, you may do with this topic as you see fit. Excuse me if I come across as 'bashing' in some parts, as I'm not the best when it comes to wording my ideas.
I've been a coder of Proboards for awhile now, and am rather apt in the use of HTML and CSS. So I'd like to give my personal opinion and suggestions on the forums so far.
First thing I'd like to say, is that the logo is BEAUTIFUL. So kudos to Merlin for making it. I like the colour theme; I've always been a fan of purple/black combinations, and it suits the logo perfectly.
BUT. When you put dark text on a dark background, it can be difficult for some people to read; like me, because I'm blind. I have to actually highlight things in order to read them.
The normal text is fine, because it's bright and easy to decipher (although it's too bright in contrast with the background for me. Guess I'm just picky? Lol.). But the title text colour - blue on purple? It's much harder to read when it's that small, unlike the category text which I can only read because it's larger. Maybe making the title text a few shades lighter than the background would help.
Another thing that threw me off slightly are the board and thread highlights. They're white; when the board/thread description text also white. Upon highlighting, this makes the board/thread des' text invisible. Highlights are tricky, it's generally a good idea to go with a shade slightly lighter than the category background.
Next up, the forum width. It's a a tad too wide. A good forum will usually have the forum width equal to that of the banner's. E.g. The width of your current logo is 639px - the width of the forum should match this. The code is:
<div id="wel"></div> <script type="text/javascript"> <!-- var welcomeTable = document.getElementsByTagName("table").item(0); document.getElementById("wel").appendChild(welcomeTable); //--> </script>
<script> document.getElementsByTagName('table')[0].style.width='639px'; </script>
This should be placed in your global header.
<script language="JavaScript"> var boardwidth = document.getElementsByTagName('TABLE'); for(i=0;i<boardwidth.length;i++) { if(boardwidth[i].width=="92%"){ boardwidth[i].width='639 px';}} </script> This should be placed in your global footer.
Am not saying you need to do all these things, but it's just my two cents. Thanks for reading.
